Travel: Krakow and Warsaw, Poland

My third time to this glorius city...and my first to the Polish capital of Warsaw.

Krakow was warm, and slightly damp. However, beginning to feel quite homely! Knowing the best places to eat, and remembering where they are...is handy to say the least! The hostel, AAE Mosquito, was fantastic, we were given a room in another section of the building, and it was actually more like a flat...which put thoughts in motion...It was in a great area, only 100m or so from Krakow Glowny, and minutes from the Rynek.

Warsaw is an odd city, huge in size. Emerging from the central train station, you are surrounded by a myriad of architectural styles. The station itself is suffering a communist hangover, although is still quite interesting in its own way! Over the road is monsterous, gothic style building that wouldn't look out of place in Gotham City, and then to the left is the ultra modern shopping centre, with the entrance seemingly modelled on the Eden Project.

It took some time to find the Old Town, and the hostel, however was not to be disappointed. The area has been rebuilt to be an almost perfect representation of it's pre war father. The rebuilding is actually, still on going, almost 65 years later!

Wildlife: Kestrel

I took a quick walk around my favourite haunt of the Ladybrook Valley at Bramhall today...it was a little warm to sit concentrating on one thing inparticular, but I knew the buzzards would be about in their usual spot so headed there for some easy in flight stuff. How pleased was I when not only the pair of buzzards were about, but a pair of kestrel too? One of which came to investigate what I was upto!

Music: The Weekend Offenders @ Somewhere off the A6

Today was the shoot for a friend's band, The Weekend Offenders. It was my first chance to use my off camera lighting set up in anger, and it all went well! This manual flash malarky is easy as pie! Anyway, here are some quick edits..I'll post more once they're all finished! Might even make a new location portrait section...hmm...

Music: Enter Shikari @ HMV Manchester

Today I shot Enter Shikari for the UKGigsAndFestivals music blog. It was a hot day, made worse by being held in a basement with a couple hundred bouncing fans also thrown in to the mix! Thankfully I was stage side of the fence, not that it helped with the temperature much! All shot at ISO3200, f2.8 and with varying shutter speeds...not ideal but it beats blur!

Wildlife: South Stack RSPB

A visit to South Stack's RSPB reserve was on the cards, for this glorious evening! It was my first visit so wasn't too sure what to expect. There was plenty of scope for the smaller heathland birds that occupied the cliff edges, although the sea birds were somewhat distant..although it made for workable environmental shots!
